Maintaining a Jewish Kitchen    P A G E  3

What’s a recipe for Finnish soup doing in a Jewish cookbook?
Hot off the Range contains recipes from Jewish cooks on Minnesota’s Iron Range. The recipes also reflect the rich mix of ethnicities on the Range. Would you like the recipe for Jake Jolowsky’s Potato Kugel?

Mementos from Eretz Yisroel, the Land of Israel
In the 1960s and 1970s, as Jews began visiting Israel in increasing numbers, they brought home souvenirs both to use and to give as gifts.

The pushke had changed color and purpose
The “blue box” that supports land-related projects in Palestine and later Israel has taken the place of the earlier pushkes.
