Dear Friend of Upper Midwest Jewish History:

The Jewish Historical Society of the Upper Midwest has reached our own historic milestone. Your support is needed as we look to the next phase in the Society’s mission. I know that you, like all JHSUM supporters, treasure the stories and photographs of our families that increase our understanding of who we are and enrich our lives. This is the legacy we leave to the next generation.

Through the leadership of Theresa and Nate Berman, Governor Elmer L. Anderson, Rabbi Bernard Raskas and many others we have developed a unique partnership with the University of Minnesota Libraries. This partnership provides for Upper Midwest Jewish History to be cared for and made available world wide in perpetuity.

This past fall our entire paper archival collections were gifted to the University of Minnesota Andersen Library and are now held at the Berman Upper Midwest Jewish Archives. JHSUM retains the three dimensional cultural artifacts at the Kaplan Family History Center. JHSUM will continue to reach out to the community and continue our efforts to collect the untold stories still out there that need to be documented. We will work closely with the University to share the stories we collect so they can be part of the archives at the University of Minnesota Libraries for scholars, genealogists and families to discover.

The Jewish Historical Society of the Upper Midwest is not going out of business. We are working on creating a gallery of Upper Midwest Jewish history in our space on the Barry Family Campus. Stay tuned for exciting developments.

We need your help now to support the continued efforts of JHSUM in seeking new acquisitions and our important mission of telling our history with exhibits and informative programming.

Please demonstrate your love of our Upper Midwest Jewish experience with your gift today. We thank you and appreciate your support.

Jamie Heilicher, JHSUM President

Sharron Steinfeldt, JHSUM Past President
