A colleague and mentor of Scheiner’s was Leon Lewis. Lewis was born twenty years before Scheiner in Hurley, Wisconsin. Lewis, also an attorney and a war vet who, after moving to Los Angeles in the early 1930’s, uncovered and helped foil several American Nazi Party terrorist plots of murder planned against Jews in Los Angeles, as well as plans for sabotage against the US Government.
They fought in different cities and faced different challenges, their stories reveal the courage of the past—and its relevance today.
